THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BITES WE FIX

OVERERBITE

When the teeth are clenched, the upper teeth come down too far over the lower teeth.

UNDERBITE

The upper teeth are too far back, or the lower teeth are too far forward.

POSTERIOR CROSSBITE

Posterior Crossbite. At least one of the upper teeth does not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when the teeth are clenched. They are too near the cheek or the tongue. When the crossbite is on one side the chin will shift to the side.

ANTERIOR CROSSBITE

Upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth. Sometimes the lower teeth cover the top teeth. This may cause the lower jaw into an uncomfortable position that may cause clicking. This gives the appearance of a strong lower jaw.

CROWDING

In a narrow jaw, there may not be enough space for all the teeth. Sometimes it is necessary to remove one or more teeth to make room for the others.

PROTRUDING FRONT TEETH

Treatment can improve the appearance and protects the teeth from damage during sports injuries or falls. And the lower jaw looks pushed back.

SPACING

There are gaps or spaces between the teeth, either because a tooth is missing, or the teeth do not fill up the mouth. This is the opposite of crowding.

OPEN BITE

When the teeth are clenched, there is an opening between the upper and lower teeth. Thumb sucking, nail biting, pacifier usage, and mouth-breathing all contribute to an open bite.

WHO SHOULD SEE AN ORTHODONTIST?

People who are presented with crooked teeth, buck teeth, midline shifts, open bites, overbites, spacing, crossbites and misaligned teeth and jaws. Strong and shifted lower jaws are also reasons for seeing an orthodontist.

ORTHODONTISTS ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING

Treatment can improve the appearance of the smile, but the most important improvement is a person's self esteem!
